Map of Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador and Prince Edward Island
Map of the Canadian provinces of Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador and Prince Edward Island (with some text added) from the Atlas of Canada Reference Map Series - Natural Resources Canada, Centre for Mapping and Earth Observation, printed in 2014.
These provinces on the eastern Canada were among the first to be discovered by European navigators. Prince Edward Island is an island and the smallest province of Canada by land area and population. Its capital and largest city is Charlottetown. It is one of the three maritime provinces and one of the four Atlantic provinces. New Brunswick was first inhabited by First Nations like the Mi’kmaq and Maliseet. In 1604, Acadia, the first New France colony, was founded with the creation of Port-Royal. For 150 years afterwards, Acadia changed hands multiple times due to numerous conflicts between France and the United Kingdom.
